Privacy policy

Raves helps local businesses ask their customers for Google reviews. This page explains, in plain language, what information we handle, why, and what you can do about it. It covers two groups of people: business owners who use Raves, and their customers, who receive review requests.
What we collect
From business owners:
- Your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google.
- Your business name, logo link and Google review link.
- Basic records of how you use Raves, such as when you sent review requests.
About a business’s customers, as entered or uploaded by that business:
- Name and email address.
- When a review request or reminder was sent, whether the review link was clicked, and whether they unsubscribed.
When someone scans a Raves QR card, we count the scan and record the time. We don’t record who scanned it.
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To send a business’s review requests, and one reminder if the customer hasn’t clicked after three days.
- To show a business its results: requests sent, clicks and QR scans.
- To sign you in, keep your account secure and contact you about your account.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising. Raves doesn’t write, edit or post reviews. Reviews are written by customers, on Google, and are covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
Emails to customers
Raves only emails people that a business adds as its customers. Each email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Once someone unsubscribes, that business can’t send them review requests through Raves again. A business can’t send the same person more than one review request (plus one reminder) within 30 days.
Businesses are responsible for only adding people who are actually their customers, and for following the email and privacy laws that apply to them.
Who helps us run Raves
We use a few trusted services to run Raves. They handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in.
- Resend: sends Raves emails.
- Vercel: hosts the Raves website.
- Google: if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Stripe: handles payments, if you subscribe. We never see your full card number.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your business, its customer list and its review-request history. Some records, such as payment records, may be kept longer where the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Business owners can see, correct or delete their information. Email us and we’ll help.
- Customers who got a review request can unsubscribe using the link in the email, or ask us to delete their information.
- Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as getting a copy of your data. Just ask.
Security
Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each business can only see its own data, and access to our systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll tell you.
Children
Raves is for businesses and isn’t meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll let business owners know by email.
